Challange
Designing RateService meant turning a sensitive, often emotional topic—public service quality and corruption—into a simple, safe, and trusted rating experience for everyday citizens.
Our main challenge was to build a platform that encourages honest feedback without fear, while still being structured enough to produce meaningful, comparable data about departments and divisions. We had to create an interface that makes rating behaviour, time, and productivity feel intuitive, yet robust enough to power public leaderboards that highlight both excellence and underperformance. Balancing transparency with responsibility was critical: the site needed to motivate citizens to participate, help media and policymakers use the insights, and at the same time avoid becoming a place for spam, personal attacks, or misinformation.
Goal
The goal of RateService is to make public service quality visible, measurable, and openly comparable so that trust and accountability can grow across offices and departments.
Our project goal was to build a simple, citizen‑first platform where anyone can quickly rate the service they received, and then see those ratings aggregated into a clear dashboard of top‑performing providers. By turning individual experiences into transparent, public insights, RateService aims to reward good service, expose gaps, and give decision‑makers real data to improve how public offices serve people every day.
Solution
We created a lightweight, intuitive web platform where citizens can rate the service they received in just a few clicks and immediately contribute to a live, public performance dashboard.
Our solution was to structure RateService around two core experiences: a simple rating flow for users and a transparent leaderboard view for accountability. The rating form captures key dimensions like behaviour, timeliness, and productivity, while the dashboard aggregates these scores to highlight top‑performing offices and identify areas needing improvement. By combining individual feedback into clear visual rankings, RateService turns everyday service encounters into actionable insights for citizens, media, and policymakers, strengthening both trust and responsibility in public service delivery.
